Apprentice Application Form

Apprentices must be Full Members of the HWG. As a condition of participation, the Apprentice agrees to serve as a Mentor for a period equal in length to that of the apprenticeship after the instruction period is completed. If you are not prepared to do this, you cannot participate in this program. If you are, choose up to three subjects in the form below.

Instructional Areas: 

You may choose up to three areas. However NOTE that the more 
areas you choose, the less likely we are to be able to assign you
a mentor immediately.

The following questions are optional, but will help us match you to 
the most appropriate mentor:

Basic HTML Authoring

This is for enhancement of existing skills. If you currently have no HTML authoring skills, use the links on the Guild's Resources page as your starting point.

CGI Scripting

You must be able to program in some language before you can be a CGI apprentice. CGI, the Common Gateway Interface, is a standard for external gateway programs to interface with http (web) servers. The languages that each Mentor is proficient at are used when matching them to apprentices. They may be interested in tutoring in other languages; the listed languages are just their specialties.

Java Programming

You must be familiar and conversant with Object-Oriented concepts and terminology before asking to be a Java apprentice. It would be good if you have worked through Sun's Java Tutorial but it is not required.

Web Scripting Languages

JavaScript, VBScript, etc.
