Mentor Application Form

The Mentors are Guild members available to work one-on-one with other members to help them learn the various aspects of HTML and Web services. Each situation is taken individually, the Mentor and Apprentice working together to create a personalized program. To become a Mentor, fill out the form below.

Your application will be reviewed by the Mentor/Apprentice Program Admin team , and you will be informed of the result of their decision by email. Once you have been approved as a mentor, your details will be held and matched with prospective apprentices. We will try to arrange for an even spread of apprentices per mentor, and in no case will we assign an apprentice to a mentor who already has his stated maximum number assigned.

Instructional Areas

Basic HTML Authoring

This is for enhancement of existing skills. If an apprentice currently has no HTML authoring skills, they should be directed to the links on the Guild's Resources page as their starting point.

CGI Scripting

CGI apprentices must be able to program in some language before applying. CGI, the Common Gateway Interface, is a standard for external gateway programs to interface with http (web) servers. Mentors should specify which language(s) they are proficient at; they may be interested in tutoring in other languages, however the listed languages will be treated as their specialties.

Java Programming

Java apprentices must be familiar and conversant with Object-Oriented concepts and terminology before applying. It would be good if they have worked through Sun's Java Tutorial but it is not required.

Web Scripting Languages

JavaScript, VBScript, etc.
