Statement of Vision

I see the HTML Writer's Guild as a community in which the members assist each other in learning about, and succeeding in, a field that is constantly growing, changing and re-defining itself. My view of the Guild's purpose is to provide a forum for this community and a catalyst for learning about the web, HTML and new developments in the medium. In my opinion, the goals of the Guild are, and should include: teaching, dialogue, exchange and professional support/contacts. I see myself, as a member of the Governing Board, serving this vision by supporting teaching, promoting collaboration, professional contacts and sharing my knowledge as well as supporting a means for other members to share their expertise. I also see myself actively soliciting ideas from other members to help retain the true spirit of Guilds: members helping members. By fostering this type of community and contributing my time to the Guild, I believe it can continue to grow and thrive.

Qualifications

I run the Multimedia Department of Media Services at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, developing promotional and instructional multimedia and web pages for the University and teaching faculty and staff to integrate multimedia and the web in their instruction. I conduct several workshops in web development and imaging for the web at he University and participate in the University Web Support Team, providing technical support on HTML, servers and CGI's to the University. This February, I am presenting a half-day workshop, "Imaging for Web Pages," at the AECT National Convention in St. Louis.
