Proxies are now being registered. If you are a plus member, this is your chance to submit a proxy for the three open Governing Board positions. Proxy registration will end on February 12.

NOTE: Each candidate verified his or her desire to run for a Governing Board position. E-mail was sent to each candidate requesting material be sent for a candidate Web page. No material was received by the Nomination Committee for those candidates listed above who do not have a link to a candidate page.

Election for Governing Board positions will take place on 19 February 1998 by proxy gathering. Proxies will be registered from February 5 to 12. There are three slots open.

Nominations were taken by the Nomination Committee. The deadline for nominating someone was Friday, 28 November 1997.

As noted in the January 1998 issue of hwg-news, it is now possible to subscribe to hwg-elections. This is the only list where campaigning, etc. is on-topic. Please do not discuss the election or candidates on any other Guild mailing list.

The HWG's IRC Channel has been used as an open forum for discussion between the members and candidates. There were a total of 4 IRC chats scheduled for the elections. It was not mandatory for candidates to attend these meetings. They were all been notified of the sessions ahead of time.

Proxy Gathering Information

Plus members can submit proxies from February 5 to February 12. If you are a plus member, please go to the voting page to submit your proxy. You must know your membership number and password in order to submit your proxy. If you have forgotten your number or password, please e-mail dbadmin(at)hwg.org

After the proxy registration is closed on February 12, the Nominations Committee will gather the proxies and report the proxy totals to the Secretary at the membership meeting on February 19. At that point in time, all the proxies will be tallied by the Secretary. Any plus members who haven't already voted, may do so if they are present at the meeting.

All HWG members are invited and encouraged to attend the membership meeting on February 19. It will take place on the HWG's IRC channel at 6:00 pm (pacific time).

• Feb 5 - Start of proxy registration
• Feb 12 - End of proxy registration
• Feb 19 - The membership meeting. Proxies are officially tallied at this time. Election results announced on -ops, hwg-election, the website, and in the next issue of hwg-news.
