This is a beginning through intermediate course for people interested in learning Adobe Illustrator. The course is suitable for individuals with little-to-no knowledge of Illustrator and digital illustration as well as those people who would like a refresher or introduction to some of the new tools available in the application.

We'll cover the basic drawing tools, page setup, artboard set up and use, then move on to some of the more advanced tools and techniques such as perspective grid, color management, print set up and more.

This course will utilize short videos which demonstrate the use of the tools as well as written lecture materials. Each week's assignment will offer an opportunity to try out the tools and techniques learned during that week

Prerequisites
  • Students should be comfortable with posting work in the classroom, as assignments will be turned in using a graphic format (.jpg).
Requirements
  • Because of the length of the class, students must have a full version of Adobe Illustrator installed in their machines.
    • Version: Creative Cloud or CS6 - earlier versions will not have the tools needed to participate in this course. Students using CS6 will not be able to utilize lessons presented on tools only available in the Creative Cloud version. So installation of Illustrator Creative Cloud is highly encouraged.
  • There are no platform-specific requirements in this class so either a Mac or PC will be fine.
