Prerequisites
Students should be comfortable with basic HTML in order to post their assignments to the web for download and grading. Ideally, completion of the Adobe Illustrator G401 course but equivalent knowledge and/or experience will meet the prerequisite requirements.
Requirements
  • Software Requirements: Because of the length of the class, students must have a full version of Adobe Illustrator version CS3 or higher installed on their machines - a trial version will not offer sufficient time to complete the course.
  • Other requirements: Lessons may be done in Illustrator version CS3 or higher. Students must have webspace where they can post their assignments. Ideally you should avoid web hosts that support banner ads or popup ads as this adds code to your pages. If you do not have webspace, try your ISP first as many provide space as part of your monthly fee. If yours does not, there are a number of free services that are available on the net. Lessons may be submitted to the instructor or TA via email if webspace is not available.
  • There is no book required for this course. However, it's highly recommended that you acquire a copy of the QuickStart Guide (PeachPit Press) that coincides with your version of Illustrator. This is a great reference book and one you'll find very useful after completion of the course.

This format has no set meeting time, which allows students to attend class at a time most convenient to them, yet still provides logically organized communication between class participants. Students can apply for the completion certificate after finishing the class. Web Study certificate is also available.
