90% of people start their day with a search engine. The majority of searchers tend to focus on only the first few organic and paid (sponsored listings) results. Learn to put your website where your customers are searching in this 6 week course designed for experts and beginners alike.

This is a hands on class where assignments involve making changes to yours or a clients website under the close eye of your instructor. If you do not have a website you may still participate to the best of your ability. Students who are able to keep up with assignments in this course (5 in total) tend to see increases in their search engine rankings before the class is over.

Week 2: Optimizing Your First Web Page
  • Implementing your Keyword research

Week 3: Measuring Progress and Defining Success
  • How many pages do you have in the search engine (saturation)
  • How many incoming links do you have (link popularity)
  • Search Engine Rankings - dos and don'ts
Week 4: Potential Barriers to Your Success and Obtaining Incoming Links
  • Frames, images, scripts, CSS, flash, dynamic URLs
  • How many incoming links do you need?
  • Learn how to obtain incoming links
Week 5: Introduction to Pay Per Click
  • Why use Pay Per Click
  • PPC search engines
  • Tips for writing PPC ads
  • Optimizing Landing Pages
  • Tracking click throughs and leads or sales
Week 6: Special Topics in Search Engine Marketing
  • Information will be presented on a variety of topics including:
    • Marketing locally
    • Web analytics
    • Handling clients
    • Dealing with SEO spam
  • Students are invited to present desired topics of interest for additional discussion
Prerequisites
It is preferred but not mandatory that students have a website which they can make changes to under the guidance of the instructor. Basic knowledge of HTML is a necessity.

How eClasses Work:The classroom environment is based on Lundeen & Associates Web Crossing technology, a threaded messaging system. Instructors post lectures, reading selections, and hands-on assignments once a week in the online classroom. Students can discuss the assignments with the instructor and amongst themselves in the classroom area. This format has no set meeting time, which allows students to attend class at a time most convenient to them, yet still provides logically organized communication between class participants. Students can apply for the completion certificate after finishing the class. Web Study certificate is also available.
